There were some people who had to be woken this morning!!! Anna, Julie and Andrew were heading back to the airport after lunch and we wanted to get to Lluc to visit the monastery and where the rest of us could have a walk later.
We managed to get there eventually, and after a quick coffee in a bar where Andrew made friends with the Uruguayan proprietor, we went off to have a look at the monastery. The Church there was built in the early 17th century but renovated in the early 20th century. It has a statue of a black Madonna and is famous for this. The statue is sandstone and is only black through dirt, but has taken on the meaning of the sorrows and struggles of life.
We had a wander through the garden and then went back to the Church as the choristers were singing. That was a bonus!!
Lunch back at the Uruguayans bar and then some sad farewells! We have had such a fun time altogether.
It was then onto the walk. A circular walk of around 12kms, taking us through woodland and open pasture and olive groves, with ascent of about 500metres. Up until then the day had been cool and cloudy but the sun finally broke through and it was a lovely afternoon.
Walk done, it was back to the villa where David and Alex did an excellent job of creating a meal of leftovers! Washed down with a bottle of the incredibly cheap Mallorcan red wine, it was very pleasant but a bit quiet!!!
